The smell of smoked bacon, caramelized onions and garlic welcomes your arrival at Lorelei’s Bistro.
On Wyandotte street East in Old Walkerville sits Lorelei’s, offering a unique culinary journey to anyone interested. Reminiscent of a 1920s old world style bistro the restaurant is classy enough for a business meeting yet intimate enough for brunch with an old friend. Created by Mary (a.k.a. Lorelei) and Andrew Lambros, it opened its doors on Monday February 11, 2013.
Starting with four bare walls, Lorelei oversaw the entire construction of the former furniture store. She decorated the space herself after about a year of accumulating suitable items.
A collection of chandeliers hang from the ceiling and a modern electric fireplace sits on the wall. The chatter and laughter of patrons hums in the background. The seating options include romantic private booths, a dining room with a view of the kitchen, or a private room that can seat two to twenty people.
The extensive menu created by Lorelei and Executive Chef Chuck Koury boasts soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, pastas, seafood, proteins and specialties. The most popular dishes are calamari, seafood crepe, chicken Florentine, ravioli, frenched chops and Lorelei’s back ribs. Breakfast, wine and desert menus are also available.
Most of the dishes land under 20$, providing an affordable meal for any occasion.
Lorelei’s Bistro is located at 1526 Wyandotte St. E. near Gladstone and is open seven days a week.
